Imposter! Word party game
Last Updated: March 5, 2026
Thank you for using Imposter! Word party game. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use our app, how it is used, and what choices you have. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices.
1. Information We Collect
While Imposter! is a local party game that does not require an account, we and our third-party service providers collect certain technical and usage data to operate, improve, and monetize the app. No data is linked to your real identity.
Gameplay Data
Player names entered during gameplay are stored only locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers or any third parties. This data is not retained after the app is closed.
Analytics Data (PostHog)
We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics. This includes in-app events such as button taps, screen views, and feature interactions; a pseudonymous device identifier that is not linked to your identity; coarse location (city and country level); and device type and operating system. This data helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it. No session recordings or screen replays are currently enabled. For more information, see PostHog's Privacy Policy.
Crash and Error Reporting (Sentry)
We use Sentry to automatically collect crash reports and error logs. This may include device type, operating system version, app version, and a stack trace describing the error. This data is used solely to diagnose and fix bugs and is not linked to your identity. For more information, see Sentry's Privacy Policy.
Purchase and Subscription Data (RevenueCat)
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect a pseudonymous user identifier, your purchase history within the app, coarse location (country level), and device and platform information. RevenueCat does not receive your payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
The free version of our app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. On iOS, you will be asked for permission to track your device via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you are located in the European Union, you will see a GDPR consent prompt before ads are shown. Similar consent options are available for users in certain US states. If you grant consent, personalized ads based on your interests may be displayed. If you decline, only non-personalized, contextual ads will be shown. Google may collect advertising identifiers, IP address, and device information in accordance with their own policies. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
2. How the App Works
Imposter! Word party game is a local multiplayer party game played on a single device. Players add their names, select categories, and take turns viewing the screen to see their assigned word or imposter status. All game data, including player names and game progress, exists only in your device's temporary memory during gameplay and is not retained after the app is closed.
3. How We Use Collected Data
The data collected through our third-party services is used for the following purposes: to display advertisements and support the free version of the app; to diagnose and fix crashes and technical errors; to understand general usage patterns and improve app features; and to manage and verify in-app purchases and subscriptions. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use any of this data to identify you personally.
4. Pseudonymous Identifiers
Some of our third-party services assign pseudonymous identifiers to your device (e.g., an installation ID). These identifiers are not linked to your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information, and they are independent across services — meaning we cannot cross-reference your identity between PostHog, Sentry, RevenueCat, or AdMob.
5. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Imposter! Word party game offers an optional one-time purchase or subscription that unlocks all game categories and removes advertisements. Purchases are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address. Purchase status is managed via RevenueCat as described above. For information about how Apple handles your payment data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You have the following options regarding data collection in our app:
- Ad Tracking (iOS): When prompted by Apple's ATT dialog, you can choose whether to allow ad tracking. You can change this later in your device Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- GDPR Consent (EU): EU users are shown a consent form before ads are displayed. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time through the app settings.
- Limit Ad Personalization: On Android, you can opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google settings under Ads.
- Analytics: PostHog analytics are collected automatically to improve the app experience. The data collected is pseudonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally.
If you have questions about your rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable privacy regulations, please contact us at the email address below.
7. Data Retention
Gameplay data (player names, game state) is discarded when the app is closed and is never stored on external servers. Analytics, crash, and purchase data are retained by our third-party service providers in accordance with their own retention policies. Because this data is pseudonymous and not linked to your identity, we are unable to fulfill deletion requests for individual records.
